Minister:

Reverend Noel Nhariswa

Lay Staff:

Growth and Nurture Support Worker – Clare Pickering

Membership: approximately 70, with a regular congregation of about 50.

Central Methodist Church is in Kettering's ethnically diverse town centre, which is reflected in its congregation. The central hall style premises offer a wide range of meeting areas over two floors.

Our mission plan encompasses the four elements of the Methodist Way of Life:

  • Worship: The Church exists to increase awareness of God's presence and to celebrate God's love
  • Learning and Caring: The Church exists to help people to grow and learn as Christians, through mutual support and care.
  • Service: The Church exists to be a good neighbour to people in need and to challenge injustice.
  • Evangelism: The Church exists to make more followers of Jesus Christ.

Worship style is a blend of traditional and fresh expression, informal and lively, with music led by a worship/music group. Our Junior Church meets once a month on the second Sunday during the 10.30am worship.

We are an active church and some of the regular activities that take place are:

  • A thriving Girls' and Boys' Brigade which meet on Monday and Wednesday evenings.
  • Little Lambs stay and play group for preschool children and their parents/ carers on Tuesday mornings.
  • Bible study groups on Monday evenings and Wednesday mornings.
  • Ukraine Hub offering English lessons and refreshments on Saturday mornings.

Our vision for the next few years:

Bringing Church outside the four walls and impacting the community.

Youth work at Central, Kettering with Burton Latimer Methodist Church

Our Growth and Nurture Support Worker leads the Little Lambs preschool group, an opportunity for parents and carers to meet together while their children play. She also is involved in developing other opportunities to engage and inspire the young people within the Church, and the wider community. This includes making links with local schools.

Our Junior Church meets on the second Sunday of each month during our morning worship, and we have all-age worship on the fourth Sunday.

The 3rd Kettering Boys' and Girls' Brigade meet weekly during term time on Monday and Wednesday evenings. The brigades are an extremely important part of our youth ministry.

We have recently started a preschool group on a Tuesday morning called 'Little Lambs',

We are currently developing further opportunities for young people to enable them to grow spiritually.

Community Action:

At weekends, the area around Central becomes a vibrant night-club area. Central hosts Kettering Street Pastors, with members helping the overnight chaplaincy.

Our premises are used by a table tennis club, a quilting group and a local choir.
